Should
You Be in a Rebound
Relationship?
A person who is left
alone after the swift breakup of a relationship will often
feel very vulnerable and get into a rebound relationship
with a new partner.
After a relationship ends, you will often be quite strongly
affected with feelings that are still in existence from the
prior relationship. Things are not always judged as clearly as
they should be. A rebound relationship will often happen
because you are still upset from a previous relationship, and
you can end up rushing into something that you will only regret
later.

When you enter a new relationship too quickly after you have
broken up with someone else, you will only end up hurting
yourself as well as your new partner. If you find yourself in
one of these relationships, the best thing you can do is take a
long hard look at what you think about during the day, and
while you are with your new partner. If your thoughts are still
dwelling on the past, and your ex, then you may have made a bad
decision on your new relationship. If your ex or past
relationship barely enters your mind, then you are probably
good to go.
Similarly, if your new mate appears to be distracted by a
previous relationship, then you may be the victim of a rebound
as well. Consider whether or not they entered a relationship
with you too quickly. If you are concerned that this is the
case, simply ask them how long ago their previous relationship
ended, and it can give you a good idea of whether or not they
are totally ready to be with someone new. Of course, you can be
subtle about asking this question, and they might answer it for
you if they talk a lot about a past relationship. Talking about
your past is definitely normal but dwelling on it and letting
it take over your mind can be dangerous and won’t help you or
your new partner.
If you suspect that you may be in a relationship that is on
the rebound, then the good news is that you do not need to give
up on this new relationship entirely. It might even work out in
the long run. However, you should express your concerns to your
new partner and be open and honest about things.
You may want to take this new relationship slower than you
are currently, so that you can use your best judgement and be
thinking with uninterrupted thoughts. When you end an old
relationship and begin a new one, it can be quite emotional. If
you end an old relationship and begin a new one too quickly, it
can cause many problems down the road. When you start a new
relationship too quickly, it is wise to take things very
slowly, maybe even just stay friends with this new person for a
while before you decide that you are comfortable moving
forward.
A rebound relationship can be a dangerous thing, and should
be avoided if possible. If you suspect that you are in one of
these relationships, just remember to take things slowly and
everything should work out fine. Your past relationship needs
time to come to a complete end, including your thoughts about
it, before you can commit yourself to a new person.
